I logged into Twitter today and saw some updates from Michelle Phan.
She was feeling really down from commenters so I decided to look at some of the comments on her latest video, ‘Winter Wonderland’.
Honestly, some of these people are so rude and insensitive.
She’s not fake, nor is she trying to look white.
Is there something wrong with dying your hair?
Is there something wrong with wearing coloured contacts?
And that’s hardly a tan, but she had a blow dryer in her face to create the fake winds.
I dyed my hair brown, blonde and pink, and I’m a proud Asian.
I wear coloured contacts, and I’m a proud Asian.
Then there are the people who are just plain bashing her makeup look.
There’s a difference between constructive criticism and put downs.
I’m sure Michelle knows the difference, being an artist.
Some people will say, “I’m not sure that colour looks that great on you”, “____ was done sloppy”, “It seemed a bit too much when you added ___”, and then there are those that say, “Ewww this was your worst look”, “That looked so ugly.”
And people are complaining about her choice of PRODUCTS?!
For real?
She has the money now to afford the higher end brands, I’m sure if you had the money, you would too.
Obviously brands like YSL are amazing quality, so why wouldn’t she use them?
Just because she uses them doesn’t mean you have to. You can recreate the same look using drugstore dupes and cheaper alternatives.
If you don’t like a colour, use another colour.
If you don’t like the snowflake, don’t do it.
Don’t like the snowflakes on the lashes? Don’t do it.
And then there’s the matter of OPINIONS.
I’ve grown to hate this word. It’s overused and it’s an excuse for every hater out there.
If you REALLY wanted your opinion to be taken seriously, you wouldn’t write it like ‘EWW THIS WAS YOUR WORST LOOK. YOU’RE LOSING YOUR TOUCH. YOU LOOK FAKE NOW”.
They always say something like, “It’s my opinion, I can say whatever I want”
You’re hating for the sake of hating, not for the purpose of voicing your opinion.
UGH.
